RMP Mailer is a companion to the RM Grinder. It is a drag-and-drop AppleScript applet for bulk mailing RMP scripts to the Rainman host online. Scripts ending with ".RMP" are the output of the RM Grinder program. This is the version of the RMP Mailer designed to work with the Mac 3.0 version of the AOL client software; a version that works with the AOL 2.7 Mac client is available at keyword "IP TOOLS."
It is anticipated that the RMP Mailer will be used as follows:
1. The user drops any number of SCR scripts on RM Grinder, which processes them and produces RMP scripts.
2. The user ensures that the America Online client software (v3.0 or later) is logged on to the host.
3. The user drops the .RMP scripts, singly or together, on the RMP Mailer icon. The scripts will be mailed to Rainman.
Individual script files, entire folders, or even entire hard drives can be dropped on RMP Mailer. RMP Mailer will process each RMP file in the folder you drop, even digging into sub-folders.
Script File Names
Only files with a name of the format: "filename.RMP" and type "TEXT" will be mailed. The ".RMP" extension is required to recognize Rainman-ready scripts. Other than the requirement of the "RMP" extension, no other limits exist on a script file name. For example, a script file name can be called: "The Big Script®.RMP". File names can be multiple words long, can contain strange characters such as ƒ∂¢¥.
Errors
If an error occurs, the error is reported with a dialog and the process of mailing scripts is aborted.
Changing Rainman's Address
In the unlikely event that you wish to mail Rainman scripts to an address other than "RainmanSys", you may change the address by double-clicking the RMP Mailer application and entering the new address.
Installation
• Requires System 7.5 or later.
Troubleshooting
• Dragging a document or folder on the RMP Mailer icon from the finder does not highlight the icon. This can be fixed by rebuilding the desktop. Restart your Macintosh and while it is booting up, hold down the shift, control and option keys. Hold them down for the entire time the machine is booting up. Once the dialog comes up asking if you want to rebuild your desktop comes up, say Yes.
